About the Authors

Dr. Susie H. VanHuss is executive director of USC Foundations and Distinguished Professor Emerita of Management. Previously she served as Professor and Head of the Management Department in The Moore School of Business. From July 1993 through September 1994, she served as Interim Dean of The Moore School of Business. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and her MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University. She has served on the faculties of Loyola University, Indiana University, Northeast Louisiana University, and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Her teaching specialties include business communications, administrative systems, and personnel management.

Susie is a prolific author who received a Gold Book Award from SouthWestern Publishing Co. commemorating the sale of one million copies of one of her textbooks. Her work includes textbooks in communications, keyboarding, and office technology. She has written a number of journal articles and has served on the editorial review boards of several leading business education journals.

She is a member of five national honorary organizations and many professional organizations and has served in various capacities in those organizations. She has served on more than ten corporate and non-profit boards of directors. She also served for nine years as the University of South Carolina Faculty Representative to the National Collegiate Athletics Association. Susie has done extensive consulting and training for industry and education groups in 48 states, six provinces of Canada, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.


Dr. Connie M. Forde is a full professor in the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership, and Workforce Development at Mississippi State University where she teaches and advises in the technology teacher education and information technology services degree programs and the master's and doctoral programs in technology. She has served as co-author on the College Keyboarding team for several editions as well as co-authored a number of word processing and integrated applications simulations. Dr. Forde is a recognized speaker and contributor to the professional literature. Additionally, she has served as president of both the National Business Education Association and the Southern Business Education Association.

Her husband, John Forde, is a professor in the Department of Communication at Mississippi State University. They have two sons, John David and Daniel Forde.


Donna L. Woo has over 25 years of teaching experience in the field of Business and Office Education. She has taught in the high school, adult education, proprietary school, and community college. Donna is currently a Professor and Department Coordinator at Cypress College. Donna is a Kellogg Fellow, a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and Delta Pi Epsilon. Her industry experience includes working for IBM and General Motors. She authored several word processing textbooks and has worked on several editions of College Keyboarding.

 

 


Dr. Linda Hefferin is a full-time business professor at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois. She also taught as a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester in Great Britain. Her course load includes a combination of learning delivery options; including face-to-face, online, telecourses, and independent study.

Linda is a sought-after speaker who presents frequently at state, regional, and national conventions. She has authored or co-authored over a dozen computer application textbooks, specializing productivity tips and integration.

Linda has received numerous teaching and leadership accolades; including being recognized as a two-time recipient of the Teaching in Excellence Award at Elgin Community College, the Elgin YWCA Harriet Gifford Leadership Award, the Illinois Community College Board Excellence in Teaching/Learning Award, and the National Business Education Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Award.

As a wife and mother, Linda keeps busy with my family when she is not teaching, traveling, or writing. While their two daughters are away at college (one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast) two female cats share their household. She participates in a variety of community activities including the Friends of the St. Charles Library, Women in Management, and the Chamber of Commerce. She is an avid marathon runner who collects cookbooks and continues to work on her Spanish speaking skills.
